Sell courses on Notion — without Teachable, Thinkific or Kajabi

You build the course in Notion (where you're already productive), NotionLock adds the paywall and access control.

Why Notion beats a course platform

Course platforms (Teachable, Thinkific, Kajabi) sell you a closed system: fixed layout, their video player, limited embeds. Costs $39-119/month. Every time you update a module you navigate three menu levels, save, publish.

Notion is the opposite: free layout, embed anything (Loom, YouTube, Figma, Tella, Descript), cross-link between modules, direct edits. It just lacks the paywall and access control. NotionLock closes that gap.

How to structure it

  1. Course home page in Notion with table of contents, welcome video, module links
  2. Each module is a sub-page. Embed the video (Loom or unlisted YouTube), transcript, exercises, material links
  3. On NotionLock: protect the home page with a password
  4. Enable Email Gate: student enters email before the password prompt — you build the email list
  5. Sell via Stripe/Lemon Squeezy/Gumroad Payment Link. On payment, delivery email contains link + password

Limit access without going crazy

NotionLock supports Max Views: cap how many times the page can be opened (useful for time-limited access) or how many students can share a password. For more structured courses, create different passwords per cohort and revoke old access when launching a new edition.

How much you save

Teachable Pro: $119/month = $1,428/year. NotionLock Pro: $9/month = $108/year. Difference: $1,300/year in your pocket. Plus you get more layout freedom, not less.

If your course costs $150 and you sell 10 copies a year, NotionLock pays for itself after the first sale.
